License Terms and Conditions for Digital Designs on Triiaxis

The designs available on Triiaxis are subject to licenses and are not all free of copyrights. We describe on this page the terms and conditions of these licenses.

Designers are the right holders of their files that you can download on Triiaxis under the copyright laws. Applying a license allows them to control how these files are shared, credited, and used by the members. Each design has its own license.

Members who download files on Triiaxis agree to respect the licenses chosen by the designers. They must ensure that their use, attribution, and sharing of the downloaded files will be compliant with the applied license.

Working Principle of Licenses

Available licenses on Triiaxis for designs fall into two categories: licenses for free digital files and licenses for paid digital files.

Each license allows people who download digital files of a design from Triiaxis to distribute them under some conditions within the boundaries of copyright law. They define the legal framework for the use, distribution, modification, copy, and adaptation of the digital files of a design on Triiaxis. They also ensure that the designers of these files, the right holders, get the credit for their work they deserve. They operate worldwide on a non-exclusive basis. Some licenses, including the Creative Commons licenses, are irrevocable, for as long as applicable copyright lasts.

Some licenses only allow non-commercial use. You can use designs under these licenses only if you apply and follow the attribution and sharing terms explicitly stated by the related license. You can use designs for marketing, monetization, sales, promotion, and advertising with the intent of monetary return only on designs under commercial use licenses.

Triiaxis requires members who download digital files on the website to get permission from the designers, the right holders, to do any of the things that the license does not expressly allow.

The Default License on Triiaxis

By default, the Triiaxis – Private Use license is applied to all designs on the site. As a designer, if you do not specify a license for your design, this license will be automatically applied.

Triiaxis - Private Use

You are authorized to:

  • Print and use the 3D prints of the 3D model for private use, in unlimited quantity.
  • Use 3D files for private, non-commercial projects.
  • Use digital artwork/assets for personal projects, including private displays and personal media.

What is not allowed:

  • No commercial use or public sharing of the 3D model, 3D files, or digital artwork/assets.
  • No modification or adaptation of the 3D model, 3D files, or digital artwork/assets for public sharing or sale.
  • No distribution, sale, donation, or exchange of the digital files of the 3D model, 3D files, or digital artwork/assets.
  • Conditions of the license

    • The Triiaxis – Private Use (Triiaxis PU) license grants an unlimited, non-exclusive, worldwide license to print and use a 3D model, 3D files, and digital artwork/assets downloadable from Triiaxis for private use for as long as this license is in effect on the licensed content.

      When you exercise the rights granted by the license (defined below), you agree to be bound by the terms and conditions of this Triiaxis – Private Use license. To the extent that this License may be construed as a contract, you receive the rights granted by the License in consideration of your acceptance of these terms and conditions, and the designer(s) grants you those rights in consideration of the benefits of making the 3D digital files, 3D files, and digital artwork/assets available to you under these terms and conditions.

    • Section 1 - Definitions

      1. A 3D Model: The result of 3D modeling, the process of developing a three-dimensional representation of objects and surfaces.
      2. Licensed 3D Model: The 3D model for which the designer(s) uses this license.
      3. 3D Digital File: A digital representation of a 3D model, in the form of a digital file downloadable from Triiaxis in formats such as, but not limited to, STL, OBJ, or 3DS.
      4. 3D Print: A physical printed version of a 3D model from a 3D digital file uploaded to the Triiaxis site.
      5. 3D Files: Digital files used for machining or other manufacturing processes.
      6. Digital Artwork/Assets: Visual or graphical content available for download, used in digital or print media.
      7. Designer(s): The copyright holder and author(s) of the licensed 3D model, 3D files, or digital artwork/assets.
      8. Licensed Rights: The rights granted to you under the terms and conditions of use set forth in this license, limited to the copyright applicable to your use of the licensed content and which the designer(s) has the right to grant.
      9. Share: To make available to the public by any means or process that requires authorization under the licensed rights, such as reproduction, public performance, distribution, broadcast, communication, or importation, including in such a way that anyone may access it from a place and at a time individually chosen by them.
      10. You (Licensee): Any individual or entity exercising the rights granted by the license. The terms “your” and “yours” also refer to the licensee.

    • Article 2 - Scope of this License

    •  Subject to compliance with the terms and conditions of use of this license, the designer(s) authorize(s) you to exercise for the whole world, non-sublicensable, non-exclusive rights granted by the license all the time this license is applied on the Triiaxis site in order to:

       

      1. Reproduce 3D prints of the licensed 3D model, in whole or in part, for private and personal use.
      2. Use 3D files for private, non-commercial projects.
      3. Use digital artwork/assets for personal projects, including private displays and personal media.
      4. Make available to the public through communication media such as social networks or websites the images of your 3D prints of the licensed 3D model.

    • Article 3 - Terms of Use of this License

    • If you share images of your 3D prints, you must:

      1. Identify the designer(s) of the licensed 3D model, including in the form of a pseudonym if this information is provided.
      2. Submit a URI or hyperlink to the licensed 3D model.

      This license does not include permissions:

      1. For selling, distributing, sharing, donating, exchanging, copying, modifying, or adapting the licensed 3D model, 3D files, or digital artwork/assets.
      2. For the sale, distribution, sharing, donation, exchange, copying, modification, or adaptation of the 3D digital files of the licensed 3D model, 3D files, or digital artwork/assets.

    • Article 4 - Limitations of Warranty and Disclaimers

    • Unless otherwise specified, this license does not include any warranty of any kind, including but not limited to any express, implied, statutory, or other warranty with respect to this license.

    • Article 5 - Duration and Termination

    • This license applies for as long as it is in effect on the licensed 3D model, 3D files, or digital artwork/assets on the Triiaxis website.

      Failure to comply with the obligations of this license shall automatically result in the revocation of the rights granted by this license.

    Licenses for Sellable Designs

    Triiaxis CU - Commercial Use

    You are authorized to:

    • Print — sell and distribute 3D prints of the 3D model and its adapted models for any use, including commercial use, in unlimited quantities.
    • Adapt — remix, transform and create from the digital files of the 3D model.
    • Use 3D files for commercial projects, including manufacturing and production.
    • Use digital artwork/assets for commercial projects, including marketing, branding, and sales.

    What is not allowed:

    • No sharing of your 3D prints, nor adaptation of the 3D model without attribution.
    • No distribution, sale, donation, or exchange of the digital files of the 3D model and the digital files of 3D models adapted from it.
    • No distribution, sale, donation, or exchange of digital artwork/assets or their adaptations without attribution.
  • Conditions of the license

    • The Triiaxis – Commercial Use (Triiaxis CU) license grants an unlimited, non-exclusive, worldwide license to print, use, modify, copy, and adapt 3D prints of a 3D model, 3D files, and digital artwork/assets downloadable from Triiaxis. It also grants permission to distribute the 3D prints of said digital files and those adapted from them, including for commercial purposes, for as long as this license is applied to the licensed content.

      When you exercise the rights granted by the license (defined below), you agree to be bound by the terms and conditions of this Triiaxis – Commercial Use (Triiaxis CU) license. To the extent that this license may be construed as a contract, you are granted the rights by accepting these terms and conditions, and the designer(s) grants you those rights in consideration of making available the digital files of the licensed content under these terms and conditions.

      8. The designer(s) means the copyright holder and author of the licensed 3D model, 3D files, or digital artwork/assets.
      9. The rights granted by the license means the rights granted to you under the terms and conditions of use set forth in this license, limited to the copyright applicable to your use of the licensed content and which the designer(s) has the right to grant.
      10. The term “share” means to make available to the public by any means or process that requires authorization under the rights granted by the license, such as reproduction, public performance, distribution, broadcast, communication, or importation, including in such a way that it may be accessed by anyone from a place and at a time individually chosen by them.

      2. Produce, reproduce, and share 3D prints of adapted 3D models from the licensed 3D model, for any use, including commercial use, in unlimited quantities.
      3. Make available to the public through communication media such as social networks or websites the images of your 3D prints of the licensed 3D model and those of its adapted 3D models.

    • Article 3 - Terms of Use of this License

    • If you share 3D prints of the licensed 3D model, including in modified form, you must:

      1. Identify the designer(s) of the licensed 3D model, including in the form of a pseudonym if this information is indicated.
      2. Indicate the existence of copyright.
      3. Provide a notice referring to this license.
      4. Provide a URI or hyperlink to the licensed 3D model.
      5. Indicate whether you have modified the licensed 3D model and keep track of previous modifications.

      If you share 3D prints of your adapted 3D models, the license you apply to those 3D prints must be without prejudice to compliance with this license by users of the 3D prints of your adapted 3D models.

      This license does not include permissions:

      1. For the sale, gift, exchange, distribution, or sharing of the 3D digital files of the licensed 3D model.
      2. For the sale, gift, exchange, distribution, or sharing of the 3D digital files of the adapted 3D models.
